HOUSTON, TX – A father fatally shot his infant’s grandmother and critically injured the child before turning the gun on himself Saturday evening at a northwest Houston apartment complex, police stated.

Officers responded at approximately 7:35 p.m. to The Veranda at Centerfield apartments at 7700 Willow Chase Blvd.

Police stated the father went to the apartment of the infant’s 19-year-old mother to deliver diapers. An argument occurred between the father and the mother, and the man pulled out a firearm.

He shot the infant’s grandmother, approximately 40 years old, in the back, then shot the child in the abdomen. The infant’s mother rushed the child outside the apartment and was not injured.

Officers arrived and found the father deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Officers performed CPR on the grandmother and applied a chest seal to her wound.

Houston Fire Department personnel transported the grandmother and the infant to an area hospital, where the grandmother was pronounced deceased. The infant remains in critical condition.
