HOUSTON, TEXAS — A man in his 40s was shot in the ankle and buttocks following a confrontation near Liberty Road and Staples Street around 10:20 p.m.

The man had gone to a corner store to buy a soda and encountered an unidentified person while returning home. A confrontation occurred for an unknown reason before the person shot him.

The man returned to his home in the 3700 block of Liberty Road and called for help. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported him to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The shooter has not been identified.
