HOUSTON, Texas — A pursuit initiated by Hitchcock police ended when the driver crashed into a pole at Telephone Road and Loop 610.

According to Hitchcock police, the driver was weaving and traveling 88 mph in a 55 mph zone before failing to stop when officers attempted a traffic stop.

The driver reached Cavalcade Street and Interstate 45 before making a U-turn and heading back, eventually crashing into the pole. No other vehicles appeared to be involved.

Hitchcock police took the suspect into custody and left the scene.

The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, Harris County Constable’s Office Pct. 2, and the Texas Department of Public Safety assisted Hitchcock police.
