HOUSTON, Texas — A 47-year-old man has been charged with murder in the 2007 fatal strangulation of 29-year-old Yoshea Jarmon at Crofton Place Apartments, Houston police said.

Zachary Harper was charged in the 338th Criminal District Court. Court records show he was already in jail on a separate murder charge in the 2023 fatal shooting of 26-year-old Armin Mirazimi. Harper has faced multiple criminal charges in Harris County dating back to 1996.

Jarmon was found deceased inside her apartment at 9555 Crofton St. on Sept. 15, 2007. Witnesses reported seeing a man they believed was Harper near her apartment around the time she was found. Police said Jarmon’s vehicle had been taken and was found a few days later near where Harper was staying.

Houston police cold case detectives believe there was a history of family violence between Harper and Jarmon.

Police said the charge was filed after further investigation, evidence testing, and consultation with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
