HOUSTON, Texas — A friend went to check on a woman at Broadway Casa Apartments and found her deceased in a bedroom, Houston police said. The woman was about 30 years old.

Southeast Patrol officers and Houston Fire Department crews responded around 5 p.m. to a report of a person down at the complex in the 8400 block of Broadway Street.

Officers called homicide investigators to the scene because of the unusual circumstances. Police said the woman had no obvious signs of trauma and that it was unclear whether foul play was involved. Detectives are treating the death as a homicide while they await the medical examiner’s findings.
