FAYETTEVILLE, ARK. – The use of lethal force by two Fayetteville Police Department officers has been ruled justified in the September 2025 shooting death of 42-year-old Brandon Poulter. According to Fourth District Prosecuting Attorney Brandon Carter, the officers' actions were consistent with Arkansas law. On September 7, 2025, Fayetteville Police officers responded to reports of gunfire at an apartment complex in the 300 block of North Garnet Court. As officers attempted to make contact with individuals inside the apartment, additional gunshots were fired from within, targeting both the officers and an armored vehicle. The conviction stems from multiple incidents involving sexual assaults of female patients during medical examinations at Banaji’s clinic in Forrest City. Searcy County man sentenced to nine life terms for repeated rape of minor

MARSHALL, AR – Stephen Phillip Treat, 67, was sentenced to nine life sentences on September 24, 2025, after a Searcy County jury found him guilty of nine counts of rape and other related offenses. The charges stemmed from an investigation launched in July 2023 after a woman reported to the Searcy County Sheriff's Office that Treat had raped her repeatedly between 2012 and 2022, beginning when she was a minor. The Sheriff's Office requested assistance from the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division. Treat was arrested on July 18, 2023. Following a two-year legal process, he was convicted and sentenced to life in the Arkansas Department of Corrections on each of the nine rape counts.

WILLISVILLE, Ark. – The Eighth Judicial District-North Prosecuting Attorney has determined that two Arkansas State Police troopers acted lawfully when they used force during the July 22 apprehension of Daniel Wallace, 35, of Rosston. The incident began around 5 p.m. when Nevada County deputies responded to a shooting at a home on Arkansas Highway 200 in the Morris community. Deputies found a 47-year-old Rosston man with life-threatening injuries. Wallace, identified as the suspect, fled the scene in a white 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe. HAZEN, Ark., Sept. 18, 2025 – Arkansas State Police are searching for two suspects who fled into a wooded area following a high-speed pursuit that ended along Interstate 40 near Hazen early Wednesday morning. According to ASP, the pursuit began around 8:45 a.m. when troopers attempted to stop a black Hyundai Palisade for a traffic violation. The driver reportedly fled at speeds nearing 100 miles per hour while making dangerous lane changes. The driver, identified as Brevin Tre Harvey, 24, of Saltillo, Miss., and a rear passenger, Marice Quencha Sykes, 30, of Tupelo, Miss., exited the vehicle and fled on foot into nearby woods. FORDYCE, Ark. – The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division is conducting a death investigation following the discovery of two deceased individuals inside a residence in the 1700 block of West 4th Street. Upon arrival, authorities located David Parham, 81, and Holly Parham, 70, both of Fordyce. They were pronounced deceased at the scene by the Dallas County Coroner. The bodies will be transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory to determine the cause and manner of death.
