BAYTOWN, TX - A suspect was injured during an officer-involved shooting near E. Texas Avenue and N. 3rd Street in Baytown after officers responded to a disturbance. According to the Baytown Police Department, the suspect fired at an officer, who returned fire. The suspect was struck and transported to a hospital for treatment. The officer was not injured. The incident remains under investigation.

Officers immediately began lifesaving measures until EMS arrived and assumed care. Ward was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. Detectives and the Crime Scene Unit were called to the residence to document evidence and continue the investigation. One person of interest has been detained as the case remains active.
