Third suspect charged in connection Jorge Jaimes murder in southeast Houston

Javier Raul Contreras (20) is now charged in connection with the murder of Jorge Jaimes on June 15, 2022.

Contreras has been charged with two counts of aggravated assaults with a deadly weapon, according to HPD.

On June 15, 2022, at about 9:50 p.m., police with the Houston Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in the parking lot of a shopping center located at 12931 Nyack Drive. They found two victims, Jorge Jaimes and Julian Becerra, both 18 years old who had sustained gunshot wounds.

Paramedics transported Jaimes to HCA Houston Healthcare Pearland where he later died.

Police learned Jamies and Becerra were meeting with two other men when another man approached them and tried to rob them. Jaimes tried to drive away but was shot. Becerra returned fire in self-defense and was able to shoot one of the suspects, Johnathan Rashon Carter (18).

Carter was driven to the hospital by private vehicle and was charged and booked into jail on June 20, 2022. Carter has been charged with capital murder and aggravated assault.

Damon W. Steber, (18), is also a suspect who was also charged with capital murder and aggravated assault. Steber was arrested on June 24, 2022.
