ARANSAS COUNTY, TX – The Rockport Volunteer Fire Department, alongside multiple mutual aid partners, responded to the Aransas 4010 Fire near Cape Valero on August 22, 2025.

The fire burned approximately 54 acres of wetlands and heavy brush before being fully contained. No homes or structures were lost or damaged, though firefighters reported several were threatened and defended successfully.
Agencies assisting included Rockport VFD, Fulton VFD, Lamar VFD, Aransas Pass VFD, Ingleside VFD, Bayside VFD, and Refugio VFD. Rockport VFD extended thanks to its neighboring departments for their teamwork and dedication.
A special acknowledgment was given to Mac’s Pit Barbecue & Catering for providing food and supplies to support fire crews during operations.
The Rockport Volunteer Fire Department continues to seek volunteers, with meetings held Thursday nights at 7 p.m. at the Central Station, 212 N. Gagon St., Rockport.
