Man killed, two seriously injured in US 301 wrong-way crash in Middletown

MIDDLETOWN, DE – Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred early September 1, 2025, on US Route 301 near Bunker Hill Road.

The crash happened around 1:40 a.m. when a Ford Focus was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes and collided head-on with a Kenworth tractor.

The driver of the Ford, a 31-year-old man from Elkton, Maryland, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending notification of family.

The driver of the Kenworth, a 60-year-old man from Yonkers, New York, and a 62-year-old female passenger, also from Yonkers, were both transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.

US Route 301 was closed for several hours while police investigated. The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing the investigation.
