Woman arrested for DUI and assault on officer after hit-and-run in Petaluma

PETALUMA, CA – A woman was arrested after allegedly fleeing a hit-and-run crash, driving over 100 mph on Highway 101, and assaulting a police officer during a DUI investigation.

At approximately 11:20 p.m. on September 17, 2025, Petaluma Police officers were dispatched to a hit-and-run collision with minor injuries. The suspect vehicle was quickly located traveling southbound on Highway 101. Officers initiated a traffic stop, and the driver pulled over to the shoulder.

During the traffic stop, officers observed signs of alcohol intoxication and began a DUI investigation. The driver, identified as Alicia Wright, allegedly pushed one of the officers and began violently resisting arrest. Due to the dangerous location, California Highway Patrol officers were called in to block traffic for safety.

Wright reportedly continued to resist for several minutes before being safely detained. She sustained injuries during the altercation and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

After treatment, Wright was booked into the Sonoma County Jail on charges of DUI, hit-and-run causing injury, assault on a peace officer, and resisting arrest.
