NEW CASTLE, DE – Delaware State Police have arrested 35-year-old Taamir Smith in connection with a stabbing that occurred last month at an Amazon delivery center.

According to investigators, troopers responded around 11:00 a.m. on August 28, 2025, to the Amazon facility located at 2421 Bear Corbitt Road for a reported stabbing. A 23-year-old man was found with multiple stab wounds. Troopers provided first aid until emergency medical services transported the victim to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Detectives later identified Smith as the suspect and obtained an arrest warrant. On September 23, 2025, Delaware State Police, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals, located Smith in the area of 24th Street in Wilmington. He was taken into custody and transported to Troop 2, where he was charged with first-degree assault and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony.
Smith was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $200,000 cash bond.
