NEVADA – The U.S. Department of Justice announced Friday it has signed a new Memorandum of Understanding with the State of Nevada to fully collaborate on immigration enforcement, resulting in Nevada’s removal from the federal list of sanctuary jurisdictions.

The original list of jurisdictions was published on August 5, 2025, under President Donald J. Trump’s Executive Order 14287. Nevada is the first jurisdiction to be removed since the list was made public.
Following the agreement, Attorney General Pamela Bondi issued a statement:
“The Department of Justice is committed to eradicating sanctuary policies across America. We applaud Governor Lombardo and Nevada for taking necessary steps to fully comply with the Trump Administration’s immigration policy. This should serve as a reminder to other jurisdictions: come to the table and work with us instead of going to court.”
The Department encouraged other jurisdictions listed as non-compliant to engage directly to avoid legal challenges. The full memorandum is available on the Department of Justice’s website.
