NEWARK, CA – September 26, 2025 – Two men were killed following a single-vehicle crash on Thornton Avenue near Hickory Street in Newark on Thursday evening.
According to the Newark Police Department, officers and Alameda County Fire Department personnel responded to the scene at approximately 5:28 p.m. on September 25. One occupant had been ejected from the vehicle. Despite life-saving efforts, both the 33-year-old male driver from Hayward and the 31-year-old male passenger from Union City were pronounced deceased at the scene.
This marks Newark’s first fatal traffic collision of 2025.
The Newark Police Department’s Traffic Unit is investigating the cause of the crash. It is not yet known if impairment played a role.
