Delaware teen arrested for DUI in head-on crash that injured father and child

GREENWOOD, DE – Delaware State Police have arrested 19-year-old Jayden Waters of Delmar, Maryland, for DUI and vehicular assault charges following a head-on crash that seriously injured three people, including a 13-year-old, late Friday night.

The crash occurred on September 26, 2025, at approximately 11:05 p.m. on Seashore Highway near Adamsville Road. According to investigators, Waters was driving a GMC pickup westbound when he attempted to pass two tractor-trailers. While doing so, he struck an oncoming Chevrolet Tahoe head-on.

The Tahoe’s driver, a 43-year-old man from Georgetown, Delaware, and a 13-year-old passenger were transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. A 40-year-old woman from Georgetown was also taken to the hospital and later released. Two other children in the Tahoe were not injured.

Troopers noted an odor of alcohol coming from Waters when they made contact with him at the scene. He was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and later taken into custody after his release.

Waters was charged with the following offenses:

  • Vehicular Assault First Degree – DUI Negligent Injury (Felony)
  • Vehicular Assault Second Degree – DUI Negligence Causes Injury
  • Driving By a Person Under 21 After Consumption of Alcohol
  • Unsafe Passing on the Left

He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3 and released after posting a $4,501 secured bond.
