CARLISLE, PA – A Cumberland County jury found Barry Monismith guilty on all charges related to a fatal fentanyl overdose that occurred in March 2024.

According to the Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office, the verdicts were returned on October 2, 2025, following a trial before Judge Christylee Peck. Monismith was convicted of drug delivery resulting in death, possession with intent to deliver fentanyl, criminal use of a communication facility, and involuntary manslaughter.
The Carlisle Borough Police Department responded to the victim’s residence on March 15, 2024, and recovered glassine baggies stamped with “we the best.” Investigators determined that Monismith sold the baggies, which contained fentanyl and xylazine, a veterinary sedative often mixed with fentanyl. An autopsy determined the cause of death to be acute fentanyl toxicity.
Detective Ryan Mennor led the investigation, reviewing ring camera footage, text messages, and a cash app transaction linking Monismith to the sale. Chief Deputy District Attorney Julia Skinner prosecuted the case.
The District Attorney’s Office commended Detective Mennor for his investigative work and Victim Advocate Lisa Verdekal for supporting the victim’s family. Sentencing is scheduled for November 25, 2025.
