BENSALEM, PA – A 77-year-old man and his two pets were found deceased following an accidental house fire on Gilbert Drive, according to Bensalem Police.

At approximately 1:52 p.m. on October 14, 2025, Bensalem Fire Rescue, the Bensalem Volunteer Fire Department, and Bensalem Police responded to the 3000 block of Gilbert Drive after receiving a report of a house fire.
Upon arrival, firefighters did not observe active flames or visible smoke but noted dark soot on the interior windows. After entering the residence, they discovered the victim, Allan Schoppy, deceased in a chair in the living room. A dog and a cat were also found deceased inside the home.
Fire investigators believe the fire occurred overnight and had self-extinguished before emergency crews arrived. The cause remains under investigation, but it is not considered suspicious.
