The rescue took place late Tuesday night after the Valley County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance. Life Flight crews were unable to land due to the heavily wooded terrain.

The National Guard crew launched quickly ahead of incoming weather and located the man near a small fire. Using the helicopter’s hoist, Staff Sgt. Brad Stock lowered Sgt. 1st Class Jade Parsons to the ground. Parsons stabilized the man’s leg and conducted a tandem hoist extraction using a rescue vest.

The man was flown to Reed Ranch Airstrip, where he was transferred to civilian medical care.

Pilots for the mission were Chief Warrant Officer 3 Theron Cameron and Chief Warrant Officer 2 Colton Ankeney.

This marks the Idaho Army National Guard’s 13th successful search and rescue operation in 2025 and the second in October.
