UNION CITY, CA – The Union City Police Department is investigating a fatal vehicle versus pedestrian collision that occurred at the intersection of Decoto Road and Royal Ann Drive.
According to police, officers responded around 6:26 a.m. and found a 55-year-old male pedestrian who had been struck while crossing Decoto Road. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced deceased at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Alcohol and drug impairment do not appear to be factors in the crash.
Southbound Decoto Road was closed for several hours during the investigation and reopened around noon. The Union City Police Department’s Traffic Unit is handling the investigation.
