Arkansas man arrested in Carlisle fatal shooting

CARLISLE, AR – The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division is investigating a homicide that occurred early Sunday morning in Carlisle after being requested by the Carlisle Police Department.

On November 2, 2025, officers responded to a shooting in the 400 block of North Greenlaw Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered 37-year-old Eric Roland of Searcy deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. Witnesses identified 40-year-old Cyle Cooney of Carlisle as the suspect, who reportedly fled the scene in a white Dodge Ram.

The Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office later located and arrested Cooney around 8:30 a.m. He was transported to the Lonoke County Detention Center, where he is being held on charges including first-degree murder, unlawful discharge of a firearm from a vehicle, and possession of a firearm by certain persons.

The victim’s body will be transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory to determine the cause and manner of death. The investigation remains ongoing.
