Man dies after being rescued from house fire on Flamingo Drive in Houston

HOUSTON, TX – Houston police are awaiting autopsy results after a 78-year-old man died following a house fire in the 5700 block of Flamingo Drive around 10:40 p.m. last night.

Officers arrived and found Houston Fire Department firefighters and paramedics removing the male from the residence. He was transported to a nearby hospital after being rescued, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The man’s 55-year-old son was also in the home and was able to escape with minor injuries.

The cause of death is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the HFD Arson Bureau.
