24-year-old driver killed after SUV strikes barrier on Eastex Freeway

HOUSTON, TX – A 24-year-old male was killed after his vehicle struck a concrete barrier along the Eastex Freeway in northeast Houston.

The crash occurred around 4 a.m. in the 800 block of the Eastex Freeway, also known as North Interstate Highway 59. According to the Houston Police Department Vehicular Crimes Division, a black Infiniti QX60 was traveling northbound when the driver left the roadway and struck the concrete barrier.

Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the male deceased. The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences is pending notification to family members before releasing his identity.

No other vehicles or persons were involved in the crash.

The investigation is continuing.
