Father shoots son during fight about vehicle keys at Houston home

HOUSTON, TX – A man believed to be in his mid-30s was shot multiple times following an argument with his father inside a home in the Independence Heights area of Houston.

The shooting occurred around 1:19 a.m. in the 300 block of Victoria. Officers responded to a shooting call and found the male with two or three gunshot wounds to the upper chest.

The victim lives at the residence with his mother and father. He was transported to a hospital and is reported to be in stable but critical condition.

Police said the father and son were arguing over vehicle keys when the dispute became physical. The mother attempted to intervene.

During the altercation in the kitchen and living room area, all three reportedly fell to the floor and several rounds were fired from a pistol.

Officers located a couple of pistols at the scene, and investigators believe the father fired the weapon that struck the victim.

The District Attorney’s Office will determine whether any charges will be filed.
