Woman pronounced deceased after husband accidentally discharges gun

HARRIS COUNTY, TX – A woman was pronounced deceased after a gun discharged inside a home in east Harris County Thursday evening.

The shooting occurred around 7:30 p.m. at a residence in the 600 block of Harding Street.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to an in-progress call and found two gunshot victims, a 25-year-old male and his 24-year-old wife. The male sustained a gunshot wound to the hand, and the female sustained a gunshot wound to the upper torso.

Both were transported to a hospital, where the female was pronounced deceased upon arrival.

Investigators said the male and his brother were sitting at a table in a common kitchen area disassembling and assembling firearms when the 25-year-old male’s gun discharged, striking his hand and then his wife.

Seven adults and three children were inside the home at the time, and no other injuries were reported.

Possible charges are pending review by the District Attorney’s Office or a grand jury.
