SANTA CLARA, CA – The Santa Clara Police Department is continuing its investigation into an officer-involved shooting that occurred around 6:21 a.m. on September 3, 2025, in the 1800 block of Eisenhower Drive.

According to the Santa Clara Police Department, the suspect has been identified as Nizamuddin Mohammed, as confirmed by the County of Santa Clara Office of the Medical Examiner. Mohammed shared the residence with the victim and two other tenants. Authorities state that the relationship between Mohammed and the victim had significantly deteriorated in recent months, with ongoing disputes over issues such as thermostat settings. In July 2025, tensions reportedly escalated when Mohammed damaged property during an argument with the victim.
Following that incident, the landlord began eviction proceedings against Mohammed. On August 29, 2025, the victim testified in support of the eviction. Investigators believe that this testimony was a contributing factor leading to the September 3 shooting.
Law enforcement officials are also reviewing an online post attributed to the suspect, published approximately eight hours prior to the incident. The post allegedly expressed grievances regarding racial discrimination in the workplace and referenced perceived “white supremacy.” Mohammed had previously worked as a contractor through a third-party agency but was terminated in February 2024. A search warrant is pending to verify the authorship of the online content.
This remains an active investigation. Anyone with information related to the case is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Bell at 408-615-4814 or email DBell@santaclaraca.gov. Anonymous tips can also be submitted by calling the SCPD Tip Line at (408) 615-4847.
