Man shot while resting on park bench on in northwest Houston

HOUSTON, TX – A man in his early 30s was critically injured in a shooting near a park in the 4700 block of West Tidwell late Saturday night.

The call initially came in shortly after 10 p.m. as a report of a person down at a different location on Paul Quinn. While en route, officers received updated information redirecting them to the area near a walking path and benches just west of a nearby park on W. Tidwell.

Upon arrival, officers found the man with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was initially listed in critical condition. Doctors later advised that he had been stabilized.

According to preliminary information, the victim was reportedly resting on a bench in the park area when he was shot. He was able to call for help himself but could not provide any suspect details.

The Houston Police Department’s Major Assaults Division has been notified and is responding to the scene.
