HARRIS COUNTY, TX – Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo and the Greater Houston Partnership, in collaboration with Houston First and the FIFA World Cup 26 Host Committee, are leading a strategic trade mission to Germany, Portugal, and the Netherlands to expand global economic partnerships and attract foreign investment to Harris County.
All three countries are scheduled to have teams play matches in Houston during the FIFA World Cup 2026.
During the trip, Hidalgo and the delegation are meeting with global business and sports leaders to promote Harris County as a destination for business, travel, and major international events. The effort is intended to leverage sports diplomacy to strengthen international relationships and economic opportunities.
This marks the third trade mission led by Hidalgo. Previous trips to Paris and Taiwan and Japan resulted in local investments from international companies including Inventec, Foxconn, and Mitsubishi.
