Homeowner shoots suspect during home invasion after crash in north Houston

HOUSTON, TX – A suspect was shot during a home invasion after crashing a vehicle and breaking into a residence.

The incident occurred around 2 a.m. in the 300 block of Truman earlier this morning.

According to police, officers responded to a shooting call and learned a suspect had broken into a home while the homeowner was awake and inside. The homeowner then produced a firearm and struck the suspect one time.

The suspect was transported by the Houston Fire Department to a hospital and is in stable condition. The homeowner was not injured.

Police said the suspect and homeowner are not believed to know each other. Additional information from a lieutenant indicated the suspect crashed a car, jumped a fence, and forced entry by smashing a window in the door.
