NEW CASTLE, DE – The Delaware State Police have located the suspect vehicle involved in the fatal hit-and-run that occurred on September 8, 2025, on South Dupont Highway. The vehicle, identified as a white Chevrolet Equinox, was found unoccupied at a residence and has been secured as part of the ongoing investigation. The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the incident and is actively seeking additional witnesses. ELLENDALE, DE – Delaware State Police arrested 64-year-old Garry Phillips of Frankford, Delaware, on his 7th offense felony DUI and additional traffic charges following a late-night traffic stop. According to investigators, the incident happened on September 9, 2025, around 9 p.m., when troopers observed a silver GMC Yukon traveling eastbound on Milton-Ellendale Highway near Sharon’s Road. The vehicle was seen slowing down, speeding up, and driving in the middle of the road. Troopers pulled the Yukon over and identified the driver as Phillips, who showed signs of impairment. According to the Delaware State Police, 26-year-old Jamiyah Dennis of Boothwyn, Pennsylvania, and 19-year-old Kaliyah Barnes of Newark, Delaware, were taken into custody on September 8, 2025, following an undercover operation by Troop 2’s Drug Task Force. The investigation began several months ago, with assistance from the Troop 2 Governor’s Task Force, Homeland Security Investigations – Wilmington, and the Delaware County Narcotics Unit. A pedestrian was walking northbound in the southbound lanes of South Dupont Highway, just south of Pulaski Highway, when an unknown vehicle struck the individual. The impact threw the pedestrian into a wooded area off the roadway, where Emergency Medical Services later located the victim while responding to another call. The pedestrian, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, was pronounced deceased at the scene. NEW CASTLE, DE – Delaware State Police have arrested 21-year-old Hasan Gordon in connection with an armed robbery at a Gulf gas station on September 1, 2025. Troopers responded around 12:22 p.m. to the station at 752 West Basin Road, where the suspect entered, displayed a handgun, and demanded money from the register. The employee complied, and the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. No injuries were reported. Detectives identified Gordon as the suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest. BLADES, DE – The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal three-vehicle collision that occurred after a suspect fled from an attempted traffic stop. On September 6, 2025, at approximately 11 p.m., a trooper from Troop 5 attempted to stop a Chevrolet Silverado for a registration violation on Seaford Road just outside the town limits of Blades. The truck displayed a temporary tag that had expired in February and had been flagged as not valid for operation on public roads. On Sept. 5, 2025, at about 4:16 a.m., a Yamaha X1A was traveling eastbound on Smyrna-Leipsic Road, east of Big Oak Road, when it failed to negotiate a curve and left the roadway. The motorcycle entered a ditch, struck a culvert pipe, and the driver was ejected. Laclair was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. CLAYMONT, DE – Delaware State Police have arrested both suspects connected to a July robbery at a McDonald’s in Claymont. On July 8, 2025, around 4:30 p.m., troopers responded to McDonald’s at 2702 Philadelphia Pike for a reported robbery. Investigators determined two males had met with the victim inside the restaurant to purchase an item listed for sale. Before the transaction was completed, one suspect grabbed the victim’s bag, leading to a struggle. During the altercation, one suspect grabbed at his waistband and implied he had a firearm. On Sept. 4, 2025, at about 2:41 a.m., troopers responded to the area of Honolulu Road and Reed Street after reports of gunfire. They found a 27-year-old man from Frankford and a 38-year-old woman from Selbyville with injuries. According to investigators, the victims were traveling in the area when unknown suspects fired multiple rounds at their vehicle. The woman was injured by glass debris, while the man sustained both debris-related injuries and a gunshot wound to his hand.
