Parents Call for Resignation of Wharton Dual Language Academy Principal Veronica Celedon and HISD Superintendent Mike Miles
HOUSTON, TX – Parents of students at Wharton Dual Language Academy are calling for the resignations of Superintendent Mike Miles and Principal Veronica Celedon. A small protest occurred earlier Wednesday morning at the academy's campus, located at 900 W Gray St near Montrose. By the time we arrived, only a sign remained as evidence of the demonstration.
While specific reasons for Principal Celedon's resignation demand remain unclear, Superintendent Miles has faced criticism over allegations of financial misconduct. In October 2024, the Texas Education Agency cleared Miles of accusations that he improperly diverted state funds to his Colorado-based charter school network, Third Future Schools.
