Columbus Fire Dept Battles Magnesium-Fueled Car Fire on Hwy 71
COLUMBUS, TEXAS - In the early hours of this morning, the Columbus Fire Department responded to a car fire on Highway 71 near Richter Road. The incident, which occurred at approximately 2:00 AM, presented unique challenges due to the presence of magnesium in the vehicle and a ruptured fuel tank.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a vehicle fully engulfed in flames. Efforts to extinguish the fire were complicated by magnesium components in the dash and center console, as well as a ruptured fuel tank that intensified the fire in the trunk area.
