Woman dies after being hit by pickup truck in southeast Houston

Houston, TX – A fatal crash that occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 30, is currently under investigation by the Houston Police Department (HPD). The incident took place at 11000 Telephone Road, where a 63-year-old woman was fatally struck by a vehicle. Her identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

According to HPD Vehicular Crimes Division, patrol officers were conducting a traffic stop nearby when a witness flagged them down, alerting them to a person lying in the street. Upon reaching the location, officers found the woman unresponsive, with the driver of a white Dodge Ram pickup truck standing nearby, waving at passing vehicles to prevent her from being hit again.

Officers immediately began providing medical assistance, and Houston Fire Department paramedics soon arrived at the scene. Unfortunately, the woman was pronounced deceased.

Preliminary findings of the investigation suggest that the woman was attempting to cross the street in an area without a crosswalk when she was struck by the northbound Dodge Ram. The driver of the pickup truck, who was not found to be impaired, remained at the scene and was questioned before being released.

As of now, no charges have been filed in connection with the incident. The investigation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as they become available.
