Video: Attempted robbery leads to man, and suspect being shot in north Houston

HOUSTON, TEXAS – At approximately 1:55 a.m., North Belt Patrol officers responded to a shooting on the 1050 block of West Rankin Road. Upon arrival, they found a black male with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive.

Additionally, a Hispanic male, transported by a private vehicle to the same hospital, was found to have been shot multiple times and is currently in critical condition.

Initial reports indicate that the incident started when the black male, along with other males, attempted to enter a club but were denied entry. As they were returning to their truck, the black male approached the Hispanic males, allegedly attempting to rob them. During this interaction, gunfire was exchanged between the two parties, resulting in injuries to both the suspect and one of the victims.

Officers later found a handgun with a magazine and a blood trail leading away from the scene. The suspect was located around the building and transported by ambulance from the front of the property.

Robbery detectives will be investigating the incident as an aggravated robbery. Police have found one casing at the scene and are reviewing video surveillance to corroborate witness statements. The gun found along the blood trail is believed to be that of the suspect, as confirmed by witnesses who saw him running in that direction.
