(HARRIS COUNTY, Texas) June 22, 2024 – Early Saturday morning, around 1:22 a.m., deputies responded to a traffic hazard in the 10200 block of State Highway 99, eastbound lanes. The incident was later identified as a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle.
The pedestrian, 27-year-old Darrell Thomas Jones, was confirmed deceased by emergency medical personnel at 1:42 a.m.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Vehicular Crimes Division, Jones walking across the highway and did not yield to oncoming traffic.
The driver involved in the incident has not been identified, and vehicle parts found at the scene are being examined. Deputies searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect vehicle.
