NTSB provides an update on the Robinson R44 Helicopter that crashed in Houston

HOUSTON, TX At an National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) press briefing, officials provided details about a Robinson 44 helicopter crash that occurred last night, shortly before 8 p.m. yesterday evening.

According to NTSB, the helicopter, identified as N881KE crashed into a radio tower and caught fire following its departure from Ellington Airport. All four people on board were tragically fatally injured.

Investigators have been gathering evidence at the scene and plan to continue for several hours tonight, resuming again tomorrow. Local law enforcement, including the Houston Police Department, Houston Fire Department, EMS, and first responders, were commended for securing the area.

The investigation remains in the early stages, and additional NTSB investigators are en route. The FAA has been involved in the process, and witnesses are encouraged to submit reports to witness@ntsb.gov. Investigators are also reviewing available surveillance footage.
