Man Found Shot in Head in Box Truck After Causing Accident on Gulf Freeway

HOUSTON, TX – Houston Police are investigating an incident on the Gulf Freeway near the Woodridge exit, where a man was found shot in the head inside a box truck possibly operated “Bright Lights” (as seen on the back of the truck) leading to an accident after he became unresponsive. I

Update 11/6/24: Initial reports stated that the family believed the shooting may have been a suicide attempt. However, on November 6, 2024, a friend of the family reached out to tips@houstonstringer.com to state that the family did not believe it was an attempted suicide. It should be noted that no firearm was found in the vehicle during the initial search, and the investigation is very much in its preliminary stages.

The man was transported to a nearby hospital. Major Assaults investigators have taken over the case, and further updates will be provided as they become available.
