HOUSTON, TX – A man was fatally shot early Saturday morning at the Red Roof Inn located at 11999 East Freeway.
The shooting occurred around 1:45 a.m. Preliminary information indicates that a male believed to be in his 30s or 40s had been loitering at the property earlier in the evening and was asked to leave by security. He reportedly returned later and was involved in a confrontation with a customer of the hotel.
The customer, who claims self-defense, shot the man during the encounter. The deceased male allegedly made verbal threats and had a gun in his waistband. The shooter also stated he had dealt with the man in the past.
No charges have been filed at this time. The case remains under investigation.
