Woman’s ex-boyfriend killed during home invasion, second suspect arrested after high-speed chase

HOUSTON, TX – A home invasion early Tuesday morning ended with one suspect fatally shot and another taken into custody following a high-speed police chase.

According to Houston Police Department, the incident began just before 1 a.m. at a residence near Ella Boulevard and West Gulf Bank Road. A woman called 911 and hid in a closet after her boyfriend told her to do so when she reported a break-in attempt.

Police said two suspects kicked in the front door. The woman’s boyfriend shot and killed one of them, who was later identified as her ex-boyfriend.

The second suspect fled the scene in a gray Jeep, according to police. A nearby patrol unit located the vehicle and initiated a pursuit that reached speeds of 100 mph. The suspect eventually drove off road into a bayou near Frick Road and was taken into custody around 1 a.m. A pistol was recovered from the suspect.

No injuries were reported among the two people inside the home.
