HOUSTON, TX – A wrecker driver helped two Houston Police Department officers escape their burning patrol vehicle following a crash in northeast Houston.
The incident occurred just after midnight in the 6700 block of Homestead. According to police, the officers were traveling northbound to assist other officers at a fatal stabbing scene in the 7300 block of Bigwood, where the suspect was still on scene.

Both officers, who have each served approximately one year with HPD, sustained minor injuries and were transported to a hospital. They are not in critical condition.
The suspect fled the scene. Although investigators have identifying information, the suspect has not been located at this time.
The Houston Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Division is investigating.
