HOUSTON, TX – A dirt bike rider was injured Saturday night following a collision with an off-duty Houston Police officer at the intersection of South Post Oak and West Airport.
The crash occurred around 8:47 p.m. in the 4900 block of West Airport. According to HPD, the officer was traveling northbound on South Post Oak and attempting to turn west onto West Airport when the dirt bike rider, who was heading southbound on South Post Oak, struck the vehicle in the intersection.
The off-duty officer, who was on his way to work, exited his vehicle and located the rider in nearby bushes. He applied a tourniquet to the rider’s leg.
The dirt bike rider sustained an ankle injury and was transported to a local hospital. He was conscious at the time of transport. The officer was not injured in the crash.
At this time, it is unclear who was at fault.
