HOUSTON, TX – A man was shot and killed following an altercation on a Metro bus in Houston Tuesday morning.
The incident began around 9:30 a.m. when a verbal confrontation occurred between the bus driver and a male passenger. According to police, a female passenger who was not initially involved stepped in to confront the male. The two exited the bus into a nearby parking lot, where the woman allegedly shot the man multiple times in the chest.
The man was transported by Houston Fire Department medics to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The suspect is described as a Black female in her late 20s to early 30s, medium build, wearing a black T-shirt with writing, gray sweatpants, and sunglasses. She fled the scene on foot heading southbound. Officers, along with K-9 teams and air support, have been searching the area but have not located her. Investigators are reviewing bus surveillance footage and checking whether the suspect may have boarded another Metro bus.
Police are also investigating whether this suspect may be linked to a separate recent incident in northeast Houston, where a woman matching her description reportedly fired shots at a car after exiting a bus.
The bus driver, who was not injured in the altercation, was taken to a hospital for elevated blood pressure as a precaution and will be interviewed by detectives.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Houston Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
