Groundbreaking held for new public safety complex in north Houston

HOUSTON, TX – Mayor John Whitmire joined Houston Police Chief J. Noe Diaz Jr., Houston Fire Chief Thomas Muñoz, and community leaders on Tuesday to break ground on a new public safety complex that will house the Houston Police Department’s North Belt Patrol Station.

The 27,000-square-foot, two-story facility is being developed through a collaboration between HPD and the Houston Fire Department. Located at 320 Gears Road, behind the Greens Crossroads Shopping Center at 547 Greens Parkway, the complex will serve north Houston communities.

Construction is expected to be completed in summer 2026.
