Shreveport man charged after threatening to kill girlfriend and officers at gas station

SHREVEPORT, LA – A man with a history of violent offenses is facing multiple charges following a domestic disturbance that escalated into threats against law enforcement and medical personnel.

On September 9, 2025, just after 5:30 p.m., Shreveport Police officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in the 4400 block of Pines Road. According to investigators, the victim told officers that her boyfriend, Danthony Thompson, had threatened to kill her while the two were driving. Fearing for her life, she exited the vehicle and ran into a nearby gas station, where Thompson reportedly chased her inside.

Thompson allegedly continued to make threats to kill both the victim and himself as she attempted to hide inside the store.

When officers arrived, Thompson acted erratically, attempted to harm himself, and threatened officers on the scene. He was transported to a local medical facility for evaluation, where police say he made additional threats, claimed gang affiliation, and stated he would shoot officers. He also allegedly spat multiple times on officers and medical staff.

Once medically cleared, Thompson was transported to the Shreveport City Jail. His criminal history includes arrests for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, multiple counts of simple battery, carnal knowledge of a juvenile, resisting an officer, and domestic abuse battery.

In connection with the September 9 incident, Thompson is charged with:

  • Domestic Abuse Aggravated Assault
  • Simple Kidnapping
  • Simple Battery
  • Two Counts of Resisting an Officer with Force or Violence

The Shreveport Police Department credited and also commended the swift response of officers, who prevented further harm to the victim, medical staff, and themselves during the dangerous encounter.
