La Porte man accused of firing gun at two people arrested after SWAT activation

LA PORTE, TX – A La Porte man was arrested after reportedly firing a handgun at two people during a domestic disturbance, prompting a SWAT response Thursday evening.

According to the La Porte Police Department, officers were called to the 11600 block of N. P Street around 6 p.m. on September 18, 2025. The suspect, identified as Christopher Clinton Hinds, allegedly discharged a weapon at two adults outside a residence before retreating into his home. No injuries were reported.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office accepted two felony charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against Hinds. Officers attempted to call him out of the residence, but when he did not comply, the Bay Area Regional SWAT team was requested.

The Bay Area Regional SWAT team, consisting of operators from both Baytown and La Porte police departments, apprehended Hinds without incident. He was transported to the La Porte Jail and is awaiting bond and transfer to the Harris County Jail.

The La Porte Police Department said it was assisted by the Deer Park Police Department and received air support from the Texas Department of Public Safety during the operation.
