JANESVILLE, WI – A man is in custody after allegedly firing a gun during a domestic-related dispute inside a parked vehicle with two children in the backseat, according to the Janesville Police Department.

Officers responded around 3:20 a.m. on September 23 to the 1600 block of Milton Avenue after reports of shots fired. When they arrived, a woman told police that while she was sitting in her parked vehicle, a man identified as Daniel Cordova pulled out a gun during an argument and fired a shot inside the car. Two children were in the backseat at the time, but no injuries were reported. Cordova fled before police arrived, and witnesses confirmed seeing him leave the area in another vehicle.
Multiple agencies, including the City of Delavan Police Department and the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office, assisted in locating Cordova. He was arrested around 4:45 a.m. in the 1800 block of South Shore Drive in Delavan, Wisconsin.
Detectives later discovered that Cordova had stopped at a residence in the 500 block of Cross Street in Clinton before his arrest and switched vehicles. A search warrant was executed there at approximately 12:30 p.m. with help from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office, resulting in the seizure of a small quantity of illegal narcotics.
Cordova was booked into the Rock County Jail and faces the following charges:
- Two counts of 1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety – Domestic Violence
- 1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety
- Felon in Possession of a Firearm
- Disorderly Conduct While Armed – Domestic Violence
- Probation Violation
This is an ongoing investigation, and additional charges may be filed.
