Man charged after allegedly killing friend during ‘quick-draw’ game in north Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY, TX – A man has been charged with murder following the shooting death of a 22-year-old during a reported game of “quick-draw” in north Harris County.

According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, Jaret Garcia, 20, has been charged with murder in connection with the death of Trin Thuyen. Garcia was booked into the Harris County Jail following the incident.

Deputies with Precinct 4 Constable’s Office responded to a shooting in the 14300 block of Darrah Drive on September 25, 2025. Upon arrival, they found Trin Thuyen deceased at the scene.

Sheriff Gonzalez stated the two men were reportedly playing a game of “quick-draw,” pointing semi-automatic handguns at each other, when Garcia allegedly fired, fatally striking Thuyen.

The case remains under investigation.
