HOUSTON, TX – A driver was killed early Sunday morning after a Jeep crashed into a stalled vehicle on the East Freeway.
The crash occurred around 2:25 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-10 just before Wayside.
According to the Houston Police Department, officers received a call about a stalled blue Nissan that was stopped in the second lane of the freeway. A Jeep struck the rear of the Nissan.
The driver of the Nissan was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Houston Fire Department. The age of the victim is not known at this time.
Investigators later determined the driver of the Jeep was not impaired. The Jeep may have been traveling above the posted speed limit, though not at an excessive rate of speed. The actual speed of the vehicle is still to be determined.
