Deputies rescue unconscious teen from burning home in Beauregard community

LEE COUNTY, AL – Deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office rescued a 16-year-old girl from a burning home in the Beauregard community on October 13, 2025.

At approximately 4:09 p.m. CDT, deputies responded to a structure fire on Lee Road 41 after a 911 caller reported that a kitchen fire broke out after briefly leaving the room. Deputies Brightwell and Kennedy arrived on scene and entered the smoke-filled residence to conduct a search for occupants.

Inside, they located an unconscious teenage girl on the floor, apparently overcome by smoke inhalation. The deputies pulled her to safety and began rendering aid in the front yard until EMS arrived. They also ensured no other occupants were inside.

The Beauregard Volunteer Fire Department extinguished the fire, which caused damage to the kitchen floor and wall. EMS later confirmed the girl had symptoms consistent with carbon monoxide poisoning but was stable and has since been released from the hospital.

Sheriff Jay Jones commended the deputies for their swift and courageous response, calling it “yet another example” of the dedication shown by emergency personnel across Lee County.
