LINCOLN, DE – The Delaware State Police are investigating a three-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on Dupont Boulevard near Johnson Road.

According to investigators, the crash happened around 2 p.m. on October 17, 2025. A Hyundai Sonata traveling northbound on Dupont Boulevard was slowing to stop for a yellow or red signal when a northbound Honda Accord failed to slow down and struck the rear of the Hyundai. The impact pushed the Hyundai into the intersection, where it collided with a westbound Freightliner tanker-truck traveling through on Johnson Road.
The driver of the Hyundai, a 68-year-old man from Portsmouth, Virginia, was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The driver of the Freightliner, a 58-year-old man from Dover, Delaware, and the driver of the Honda, a 27-year-old man from Milford, Delaware, were not injured.
The roadway remained closed for approximately four hours while the Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated and cleared the scene.
