Livingston police investigating apparent murder-suicide after woman and child found dead on U.S. Highway 59

LIVINGSTON, TX – Livingston Police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide after a woman and child were found dead inside a vehicle on the shoulder of U.S. Highway 59 South.

At approximately 10:47 p.m. on November 1, officers located a vehicle parked in the 800 block of U.S. Highway 59 South while searching for a woman who had reportedly expressed suicidal ideations. According to the Livingston Police Department, 27-year-old Adelia Garcia Torres and 8-year-old Cesar Ulyses Enriquez, both of Lufkin, were found deceased from apparent single gunshot wounds.

Earlier that day, the Livingston Police Department had been notified by the Lufkin Police Department about the pair and provided possible vehicle descriptions. After locating the vehicle, officers determined there was no ongoing threat to the public.

The Livingston Police Department expressed condolences to the victims’ family and thanked the Lufkin Police Department, Polk County Sheriff’s Office, and Texas Rangers for assisting with the investigation.
